From all the plaintive wailing country songs, a la Alan Jackson, to the rabid senate we had 6 years ago to go to war, what has really happened?
Is Osama Bin Laden dead? Is he finished? Is he selling Tupperware in Tampa?
No one seems to know. We are no closer to bringing an end to his shit than we were 6 years ago.
I support our troops, 110%, but I must ask what the fuck are we doing?
America is broken and no one seems to care to fix it.
I get so many rah rah, go America emails forwarded to me or just sent from different people I must stop and say, "Is this how you are wanting to fix America?" By sending empty platitudes and stupid stories that I can disprove in under 2 minutes on Snopes?
All the photos of American Eagles and little cartoon bears holding an American flag is not going to fix the US.
We headed straight into war because we are a reactionary people...when it happens to us anyway.
We wanted blood for the blood spilled on Sept 11, 2001. But in truth whose blood has been spilled more?
Have we racked up the same body count yet? Since we are not going after the right people, I would think that would be enough for us.
Another thing, why are the widows and orphans of 9/11 getting all this money?
My father died when I was 8, leaving my mother a widow and me an orphan if you go by these standards. She was given no gobs of money to make sure I went to college or to help raise me. Why is this happening to the 9/11 people? The men's families who died in the Pearl Harbor attack didn't receive compensation.
Again I must ask, is this the way America fixes things? By throwing money at the 9/11 people?
Please! It was a terrible loss but there is no way in hell that tax payers should pay for that loss.
They can sue Boeing and whatever else the lawyers want to go after, but don't go after our paychecks because some asshole wanted to make a point. I mean, if I were to go into Publix and get shot by a fundamentalist while shopping in there, would Publix be liable? Would the federal government step in to help my husband? If not, then why should we pay for the 9/11 survivors?
It seems a lot of blogosphere people are stating where they were on 9/11/2001.
I was in Staunton, Virginia. I had just made arrangements to quit my job at the local hospital's transcription department as my health was deteriorating. (I supposedly had Fibromyalgia, the docs were not sure, it was my back starting its decline). I was at home with some coffee when the news reports broke through some morning show I really wasn't listening to.
I had called Lee to ask if he had heard of the plane that hit the first tower, then while we were on the phone the second plane hit. Pandemonium ensued for him being a chemical plant. Security went berserk.
That is my 9/11 blog. Confused and angry at the government of the country we live in.

How dare you say the 9/11 survivors deserve nothing!
Those people are victims the same as those who died in the towers.
They deserve our respect and our money.
Shame on any American who thinks the way you do.

First, to Mae Campbell - to each his own (or lack thereof). Go in peace.
Okay, now onto the IMPORTANT information contained. Here we are 6 years later with our 9/11 memorials, which is only proper.
What is improper, however, is the foot-dragging politics in DC and total lack of firm and swift action. I was just thinking that if President Reagan had been in office, 9/11 WOULD NOT have happened because not only did others respect us, but they were downright scared into their diapers of us!
Here's my take on what might have happened if those rag-headed cowards had managed to pull off even one attack on that day, let alone 3, with one failed attack. President Reagan would have simply pushed the button, and atlas makers would had had to scurry to re-write their atlases, indicating that this huge hole in the ground in the Middle East was once a group of countries that harbored terrorists and hated us simply for having freedom!
Okay, all you bleeding hearts out there will start fussing about innocent lives. Uh, excused me, but innocent lives were lost and are still being lost because of the attacks on our home soil. Rescue workers and people who happened to be in the area are getting sick and dying!
This war should have been over as soon as it started. One swift nuclear kick in the ass would have sent a strong message: "DON'T DICK WITH UNCLE SAM!"
Anyway, that's my cowgirl take on the issue.
Compensation for 9/11 families? Uh.....I think not. If you do that, then what about compensation for all of the families whose loved ones did not make it back from the war or who came back no longer able to work? What about our Viet Nam vets who are reduced to living in the streets and getting poor or NO health care? If you're going to pay one group, then you have to pay them all.
Blessed Be and Goddess Bless America!

Why should taxpayers like me or an aircraft manufacturer like Boeing be liable for the act of a terrorist? If you really feel that they should have your money, Mae, mail them a check, but leave my taxpayer dollars out of it.
You say they deserve our respect and money. Tell me why? They were simply victims, and they deserve some sympathy, but how does that translate into making them wealthy at taxpayer expense?
And another thing, would your savior condone your judgment of others? Your opinions concerning pagans and others who don't happen to share your faith has been making the rounds. Shame on YOU.
