A question for the times.

In this world of "convenience" you come to find out that the convenience of some stores or shops are not convenient at all.

This weekend Lee and I went on a quest for first aid supplies. Target was cleaned out, no band aids, gauze or kits which I never buy as there isn't anything worthwhile in them! For the price of that plastic case of band aids you can fill up a 12 pk cooler with real first aid supplies. Of course you first have to find them.

We decided to go to a drug store. You know, those stores where at one time, you could buy medicines, first aid supplies, feminine supplies if you know what I mean) perfume and candy. I know about the perfume and candy because when my dad was alive he would buy my mom a box of Whitman's Sampler and a bottle of White Shoulders at our local Rexall. I would always score a ice cream soda while he was shopping.

Now when you go into a drug store, you can buy so much junk that there is no longer room for the things a drug store should sell!
At the local Rite Aid, there is a 3-4' section of aisle with first aid supplies. That's it. I will give them credit for having the Tegaderm patches that I need for my incision but basic supplies are really low on choices. I was looking for tape, rolled gauze, individual 4x4 squares and 6x6 squares, Steri-strips, large band aids and Dermablast. I was able to buy the Dermablast and the rolled gauze but that's it.
If I wanted toys, milk, beer, cheese, eggs, greeting cards, house keeping supplies and deck chairs I could have bought them all, but gauze? Forget about it.
Now what makes this "convenience store" inconvenient is the fact I didn't find the things I should have been to find there. So I have to go to other stores to find the items. I try so hard not to go into Wal-Mart but at least they will have a whole aisle full of first aid supplies.

Do I need to go online for everything these days?!

Also, I have been looking for a new pot. I had my 2 Qt pot get super heated in the oven (I didn't know it was in there) and the bottom has turned blue and the inside bottom turned a strange color that no abrasive can take off.
Since this was a set, All-Clad doesn't replace the pots from the set. If it was an open stock, I could get it quickly. Lee and I set off for Bed, Bath and Beyond, one of my favorite stores.
I had done some comparison shopping online and to replace the pot that got burned it would cost me $100 plus s/h.
However, I could go to B,B &B and get a whole new set of Emerilware for 200 more!
Oh that blasted devil on my shoulder saying, "Go for it! You love cookware, just buy it. Look it is 18/10 stainless steel with an aluminum core! You know you could use them! Just do it!"
Fortunately, the little Jewish accountant on my other shoulder says, "Are you crazy? Just keep scrubbing that pot and save the money! How important is a 2 Qt pot anyway? You got a Paul Revere copper bottom in 3Qt. Save the money. Do not charge it!"

I will put it off. Even though the mail delivered a 20% discount coupon for a purchase from Bed, Bath & Beyond. I also understand that on the set I want, the coupon will give me $60 off of the set. Oh sweet temptation! GO AWAY!
Finally, I turn the pots over and every set of the pots was made in China. We looked at my favorite knives, Henkels, they should be made in Germany...and some of them are, but you must be sure to look for the twins on the knives. If you only see one red man on the blade and it is called J.A. Henkel, it is a knock off and made in China. SHEESH! Is there anything made in good countries anymore? Oh, thank you labor unions for pushing the work out of this country .

In other news.
I am getting better. My incision is finally down to a trickle, just a drop or two an hour. I still must wear a blasted dress so nothing rubs against the incision.

I am chafing at the bit to get my life back.

I never really saw a drugstore like that but I wish there were still some around. I go to CVS all the time since all my meds are there.

So, so happy you're feeling better sister!

Love & Blessed Be,
